Just got back from a short break autumnal visit to Keswick, Cumbria. Otherwise known as The Lake District. Got really lucky with the weather. Fantastic sunshine through the trees on a footpath near Bassenthwaite brought out the reds, golds and yellowcolours in a stunning way. Who needs Vermont?

Even when the clouds descend on Rydal Water near Grasmere and you get a bit of light rain it's still a beautiful place to be. Made even more tranquil with inclement weather (fewer people around!)

Climb up high enough and you get a great vista, especially with a bit of low cloud. This is from the top of Latrigg Fell looking across Keswick to Derwent Water.
